Rolling Again in 2014

The Rolling Nerdfest is gearing up for another summer road-blast in just three weeks! And this time we are rolling in style…

Meet the Universal Space Bus, a 37 foot diesel-powered motorhome. At last, the children can fulfill their longtime dream of playing Lego Batman on the Wii while riding down the highway!

We still have our pop-up, the Death Star, and we still love it. But we happened across a motorhome for sale and we were astonished at how reasonable priced an older model could be. So we began a four-month long research project into RV’s, their care and maintenance, the current RV market, and the “RV lifestyle.”

Soon there was a spreadsheet (color-coded) and a powerpoint presentation listing the pros and cons of a dozen fine contenders. Our criteria for our family were: at least 36 feet, a slide-out, a washer/dryer, newer tires ($$$), and made by a manufacturer still in business. We looked at dozens, but finally found this one for sale by a private seller in Fort Lauderdale. It is purple. One may say mauve or smoky gray, but it is purple. We embrace the purple, most of us, anyway.

So we leave at the end of June for 8 weeks on the road. This year’s itinerary includes DC, Boise, Provo, and Kansas City. And the lists! Oh, my dear sweet Walden Pond! So, so much to do.

This slide-out makes the living room look much bigger.

The Diesel engine is in the back, so the door is next to the passenger seat, leaving room for two facing couches.
